Stay Crackenback:
The Nest and The Crest are perched atop Crackenback Ridge in Thredbo Valley, NSW – just on the cusp of Kosciuszko National Park – the retreat from the city hustle to the hills is roughly a 5-6 hour drive from Sydney, a 2-hour drive from Canberra and an 8-hour drive from Melbourne.
Crackenback is home to an abundance of wildlife and is enclosed by rugged mountains and crisp clear rivers which have formed over millions of years. These rentals sit on a 100-acre bushland property, accessed from The Alpine Way. The land is home to wombats, echidnas, wallabies, lyrebirds, and plenty of other critters. It is a slice of alpine paradise that offers guests an enriching experience regardless of the weather and time of year.

We look forward to welcoming you to our 100 acres of rocky alpine bushland. This parcel of land was first purchased by Dick Smith back in the 80s, who picked it for the vistas, easily scouted from his helicopter. Similar to the Wedge-Tail Eagle’s who can often be seen circling the view. In his words, it’s always been a home base for adventurers.
We purchased the property in the early 2000s and have called it home ever since. Our family roots extend back to almost 40 years in Thredbo & Crackenback. Much of that has been spent exploring this rugged terrain and enjoying the mountain lifestyle. The land is home to wombats, echidnas, wallabies, lyrebirds, and countless other native species.
We're excited to share our backyard—and our knowledge of it—with you. It's a slice of alpine paradise that offers an enriching experience regardless of the time of year.
